IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Anne
Shwedyk
October 20, 1940 – November 25, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Shwedyk on November 25th. At the age of 85 after a very brief battle with cancer. Her family is heath broken yet deeply grateful for the long generous life she lived and the love she shared so freely.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband Pete and her sister Gerry. She is survived by her brother Neil(Wendy), her children Peter(Sheila), David(Linda), Jen and her very special Goddaughter Nancy(Tony) she will be greatly missed by her Grandchildren Victoria, Mike, Tylene(Shane), Logan(Laura), Abby(Luke) Ben, Liam and Olivia as well as her many nieces and nephews. She also leave behind her cherished friend and confidante Karen.
Carol lived a life marked by reinvention, resilience and service from driving a school bus to working at the public library to turning her family's favourite cookies into a successful business after her initial retirement.
Her passion for giving back was unwavering volunteering in elementary schools teaching reading skills, assisting the salvation army and offering compassion and guidance through the suicide hotline. She has an extraordinary sense of community and a natural ability to gather friends and admirers wherever she went. A lifelong lover of reading, baking and gardening. Carol brought those passions to her residence at Green Acres where she spearheaded several committees and played a big role in shaping the life of her apartment community. She showed up in the generosity that defined who she was. To her family Carol was the matriarch the quiet center around which everyone gathered. She lived by example teaching that love does not need to be loud to be powerful her love was steady, quite and unwavering. She leaves behind a family shaped by her presence grounded in the kind of love that asks for little and gives so much. Carol welcomed everyone with her open-door policy. A pot of chili on the stove and the kind of home where food always stretched a little further to make room for one more.
A Celebration Of Life will be held at Marshall Memorial on Fiddlers Green. Sunday December 7th from 1:00pm-4:0pm all who knew her or were touch by her kindness are warmly invited to attend.
In lieu of flower donations to the SPCA would be deeply appreciated reflecting Carol's lifelong love and compassion for animals.
She will be forever missed and always remembered.
