Carol Jean (MacLaurin) Thomas (September 2, 1937 - June 15, 2022)

We are profoundly saddened to announce the passing of Carol Jean Thomas at Juravinski Hospital surrounded by her family.  She went peacefully and the ‘charge nurse’ was in charge right to the end.

Beloved wife of William George Thomas for 65 years. Cherished mother of Eleanor (George), Leslie (Will), Paula, and Peter.  Proud and loving grandmother of Hilary, Caroline, Liam, Olivia, Sam, and Hendrik.  Daughter of the late John (Mac) and Margaret MacLaurin.  Sister of Margie, John (late), Doug, and Alex. Carol Jean will be remembered fondly by friends, co-workers, patients, cousins, and her many nieces and nephews.

Carol Jean was awarded the Order of Niagara by the Anglican Church of Canada.  From 1958 onward, she was a highly skilled nurse, and rose to Director of Care at a large long-term care facility by the end of her career. She filled her retirement years with golf, travel, volunteering, gardening, cooking and baking, as well as cheering for the Maple Leafs.  She was a role model for many, and her most cherished role was as grandmother. She had ceaseless energy, deep compassion, and was an advocate for many.

Carol Jean's family will host a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 17,
2022 from 2 to 4 pm at 20 Place Clubhouse located at 20 Sunibel  Drive, Mount Hope, L0R 1W0. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to: cjthomascelebrationoflife@gmail.com .

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
