It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Lorne Curry of Carlisle, Ontario, on June 9th, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on January 7, 1944 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Brian’s path to Ontario began with a game of chance. At age 19, after injuring his back while carrying 100-pound bags of asbestos at a mine on the BC-Yukon border, he found himself at a train station facing a choice: return home to Winnipeg or join extended family in Toronto. A flip of a coin settled the matter, and Brian headed east; a decision that would shape the course of the rest of his life.
A graduate of York University, Brian will be remembered as a distinguished Bay Street senior executive whose career spanned more than five decades marked by unwavering professionalism and a deep commitment to excellence. A dedicated management leader, he was known as a positive force in business development, a trusted mentor and coach, and an inspiring presence who championed others. Brian understood the needs of advisors and led with both strategic vision and determined execution before establishing his own successful consulting practice.
Brian leaves behind his loving wife, Lynn; his son, Reed (Danielle); his stepsons Eric & Chris. His treasured grandchildren, Sloane and Finnian, who brought him tremendous pride and joy and his visits at the lake with his step-granddaughter, Sophia. He is survived by his brother, David (Heather), niece Kristjana, and nephew Shaun. Brian’s memory will also be cherished by his extended family, many dear friends, and the numerous colleagues whose lives he touched through his long career and remarkable life.
Brian took great pride in his Viking heritage and was a lifelong student of history, with a deep fascination for the events and figures that shaped the modern world. An avid and discerning collector, he curated an impressive array of historical newspapers, classic movies, military artifacts, baseball memorabilia, fine art, and fine red wines. He found great joy in sharing the stories behind his treasured pieces and often viewed current events through the lens of history. His curiosity, depth of knowledge, and passion for learning were evident to all who knew him, earning him a reputation as a formidable Jeopardy! and trivia player.
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details and scheduling updates will be provided directly by https://www.affordableburialandcremation.ca.
