Barbara Joan Kett

It is with sad hearts the family announces the passing of Barbara Joan Kett of Kirkland Lake at Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, January 9th, 2026 at age 71 years. Daughter of the late Wilson and Lola (McNeilly) Kett. Beloved mother of Julia Kett-Vanclief of Hamilton, grandmother to Alyssa Kett-Vanclief (Cameron) of Hamilton and Caleb Johnstone (Tori) of Hamilton and great grandmother of Jesse. Sister to Douglas Kett (deceased), Carol Nelson (deceased) and Marilyn Mumby (Robert) of Plato, Missouri. Aunt to Shane of Guelph, Kimberly of St. Catherines, and many great nieces and nephews. She retired from the Ontario Jockey Club where her career spanned over 3 decades. Barb was more than 36 years sober and helped many others over the years to achieve success as well.

A memorial will be held on Wednesday, January 14th, 2 p.m. at The Germania Club 863 King.St.East Hamilton, Ontario. Donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (cnib.ca/donate) or the charity of your choice can be made in Barb’s honour.
