Arlene Baker (nee Anderson) We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Arlene Baker,
Thursday, February 19, 2026 surrounded by her family, friends. With a day filled with love, music and
memories she slipped from us and is now at peace. Arlene and her husband of 68 years John Albert
Baker had one goal in this life, to raise a close knit loving family, and they accomplished this and more.
They raised three daughters; Debbie Garbett (Randy), Cheryl McFadden (Brian), Beth Bendo (Steve), as
well as six grandchildren, Wesley Garbett, Erin Henderson (Steve), Shane McFadden, Samantha Cekos
(Milos), A.J. McFadden (Krystie), Tina Bendo (Juan), and six great grandchildren Theo, Violet, Finlay
(Finn), Nikolas (Nico), Lily and Nikola (Nik). She was also lovingly known as mom, aunt and grandma by
many others whom she loved dearly. Volunteering was also big part of her life. A member of Girl Guides
of Canada for over 50 years as a leader, trainer, district and division commissioner and parade Marshall,
Week of the child chair and member, and most recently the Centre for Dyslexia as well as many other
positions in her community. Music was important and she loved to hear her daughters and friends sing
and play guitar, Christmas music at the Family Christmas Open House was always a must, and her
daughters sang quietly her favourite songs to her on Thursday. Children always held a special spot in her
heart and she devoted her life’s work to this as she worked at Chedoke-McMaster Hospital Child and
Family Unit as a parent therapist helping many families in her more than 20 years at work. Arlene will
be loved and remembered for her quiet loving manner and kind giving heart. Cremation has taken place
and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 3rd from 1 pm to 4 pm, at the Clubhouse at the
Villages of Glancaster where they lived.
