It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Ann Cherek. Ann was a shining example of living life fully, gratefully, and graciously. Ann was extremely grateful to the devoted family members who rallied around their Tante Ann in her final weeks and throughout the years, ensuring she could safely remain in her home. Ann was a cherished member of a large extended family, both in Canada and Germany.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter Cherek (2008), her beloved daughter Diane Castro (Rex) (2016), her parents Karl and Maria Riederer, and siblings Rosa, Josef, and Hedwig in Germany. In Canada, Ann was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Louie and Rita Riederer, sister Marianne Mihailovich (Mike), niece Angi McNeil, and nephew Michael Mihailovich (Wendy). Ann leaves behind her loving daughter Christine Cosgrove (Clint), adoring granddaughter Megan Castro, and cherished brothers Karl and Heinz in Germany. She was beloved Tante Ann to Mariola Mous (Charles), Cindy Flynn (Mark), Brian Riederer (Michelle), Gary Riederer, Paul Riederer (Kristina), and Lisa Riederer (Nadia), as well as a great-aunt to many in both Canada and Germany. She will also be missed by many friends and neighbours whose lives she touched deeply.
A service will be held at St. Margaret Mary, on June the 5th at 11:00 am followed by refreshment. Our family is deeply grateful to Dr Bob Kemp Hospice, their compassionate environment provided Ann to pass with dignity and surrounded by love.
In lieu of flowers, donation envelopes will be available at the service or by etransfer to anncherek39@gmail.com to support the purchase of a memorial garden paver to be placed at the hospice in Ann's memory.
