BOTTING, Aafke (nee Uitvlugt) Passed away peacefully after a sudden and aggressive battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family on February 7, 2024 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of 44 years to Robin. Loving mother to Marian (Ron) Bolhaar of Barrie, Sheri (Emilio) Violin of Hamilton, and Jody (Darren) Penney of Grimsby. Dear stepmother to Denise (Fred) Zawislak of Hamilton, Phillip (Jan) Botting of Caledonia, and Glen (Terri) Botting of Caledonia. Cherished grandmother to Michael, Alexander, Benjamin, Emilia, Laila, Gabriella, Hatcher, Pearson, Sarah, Crystal, Eric, Samantha, Nicole (predeceased), Jacob, Jessica, Kaylea, Beau, and Brittney. Precious great grandmother to 10 much loved great grandchildren.
Darling sister to Betty (Fred, predeceased), Grietje (Ken), Mary (Stephen), Minnie (Rick), Bart (Dianne), Krijna “Thea” (Doug), Albert (June), and Harm (Ruth).
Predeceased by her parents Harm and Krijna and her dear siblings; Jantiena, Lambert, Jim, Tom, and William.
Aafke lived a life filled with love, compassion, and creativity. Her creativity and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Aafke was known for her exceptional talents as a seamstress, cook, and bookkeeper. Her skilled hands brought to life countless garments stitching stories of love and memories into every seam. Her culinary creations delighted the taste buds of family and friends with each dish prepared with love and care. As a meticulous bookkeeper, Aafke's attention to detail and precision ensured the financial well-being of the family and business in which she and Robin raised their family
together.
Aafke will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends and all that had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her memory will forever remain in our hearts.
Please join family and friends for a Celebration of Life being held in Aafke’s honour on Saturday, February 17 from 12 to 4pm at the St. John’s Anglican Church, 1285 Hwy 8, Stoney Creek, Ontario. In accordance with Aafke’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A heartfelt thank you to compassionate healthcare staff who provided care for Aafke. Dr. Oren Levine, Aafke always felt comfortable with you and your straight forward approach, She knew that anything you recommended was always in her best interest. Palliative Care Nurse Sharon, you were an angel with a calming and knowledgeable influence that put Aafke at ease and you had a magic touch that could get her to try anything. PSWs - Irma and Mani, the rapport you established with Aafke was extra special in addition to the tender care you provided for her. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. Donations can be made online and donation envelopes will also be made available at the celebration. Aafke spent her final moments at this hospice in the loving and gentle care of healthcare staff and volunteers. Thank you to everyone at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for making this a peaceful transition for Aafke. We will be forever grateful. ❤️
