Mary Elizabeth Knox (Wheeler) passed away on Sunday June 20, 2021 at Juravinski Hospital Hamilton, Ontario in her 78th year after a short illness. Mary was born in Ingersoll Ontario on July 17, 1942. Mary was predeceased by her husband John (1972), son Sean, mother Marguerite, father Cecil, sister Nancy and brother-in-law Brian. Mary is survived by her mother Violet, sisters Linda Shanks and Marcia, brother Scott, brothers-inlaw Bryan Shanks and John. Survived by her nieces Heather, Dawn, Ashley, Sharmen , great niece Hailey, great nephew Dakota, and grandchildren Sean and Emilee. Survived by her nephews, Aaron, Matthew, and Vincent. In 1957 her family moved to Ajax, ON where she finished her high school education. Mary moved to London Ontario where she studied sciences of Biochemistry, Histology, Bacteriology, Hematology, and lmmunohematology to become a Laboratory Technologists for 41 years until her retirement. Mary moved to Hamilton Ontario where she met her husband John and their son Sean was born. Mary worked as a Laboratory Technician in several Hamilton Hospitals during her lifetime. Mary was a cancer survivor for 16 years. When Mary was not pursuing her dedication to her vocation she loved gardening (her clematis is splendid), knitting, and many hours as a volunteer. Mary was a voracious reader especially of the daily Hamilton Spectator from cover to cover. Mary liked to read Do It Yourself books and became adept at many skills which she used to keep her home in shape. Mary will be missed by her best friend Lillian, family, friends, former co-workers and anyone who had the fortune to meet her with her forthright, spirited personality.
